All my life I have heard left-leaning Americans chant that America should adopt universal healthcare. That’s it. They do not discuss the negatives of universal healthcare, or details of how it works. They simply chant that it should be installed.
Since living in Europe I have heard a variety of experiences from people who have been treated under a universal healthcare system. Some have had positive experiences, while some have had negative experiences. I have been astonished by the negative experiences because it shows faults in socialized healthcare that many Americans are unaware of. These faults draw question of how effective is universal healthcare in the long run in regards to providing optimal care to patients.
Hearing these experiences led me to launch the website Universal Healthcare Stories, a site where people’s experiences with universal healthcare can be published for the public to read.
People who have been treated under a universal healthcare system are invited to share their story to be published on the website. Ideally the story should explain the entire care process from the initial phone call to the healthcare center to post-care treatment.
My mission of this project is to shed light to the public about the pros and cons of universal healthcare, and to speculate how healthcare services can be improved.
